Tension Headaches Caused By Stress

I have been suffering from tension headaches for about 1.5 years ever since I got married. I am constantly having these headaches mostly in the mornings and they are very disrupting to my day work.

My doctor has given me several types of medication to ease the pain but none of them really help to eliminate the root cause.

During a road trip, I met up with a long lost friend and she told me that she had exactly the same problem but managed to get rid of it by eventually changing her lifestyle.

She told me that stress and insufficient sleep could be the tension headache triggers for me. I thought that she might be right because my job gives me tremendous stress and because of my new-born, I usually only get to sleep only about 4 hours per day.

I started to take up stress management courses and yoga lessons. All these efforts aided me to sleep better at night as well as to better manage the stress.

True enough, I started to see results after several weeks and the frequency of my tension headaches drops. Now, I only suffer from tension headaches for about twice a week, compared to the previous 5 times per week.

So I'd say that stress and fatigue are the main tension headache triggers for me.
